Ohio’s Top 5 Ice Creams, Ranked 🍦

Listen, this list is personal. It’s deeply Midwestern. It’s dairy-forward. And yes, it’s probably going to cause a small riot in your group chat.

✅ So here they are—in honor of Memorial Day, my personal top 5 ice creams in Northeast Ohio, ranked with absolutely zero regard for controversy:

#5. Mitchell’s (Everywhere) – Local royalty. The wildberry crumble is basically summer in a cone, and their fresh, local ingredients show in every bite. Fight me.

#4. Country Maid (Richfield) – Like stepping back in time. Country retro vibes, no frills, and the butterscotch is elite grandma-core. Plus the setting is gorgeous!

#3. Handel’s (Northfield, Broadview Hts., Mayfield Hts.) – Born in a Youngstown gas station back in 1945 (yes, really), Handel’s is now slinging over 150 flavors made fresh every single day. It’s so good, even National Geographic and USA Today were like, “Okay wow.”

#2. Skoops (Barberton, Seville) – Wildly underrated and worth the drive. Skoops is what happens when killer ice cream, retro tunes, and the friendliest staff in Ohio team up to make your day. It’s got big small-town energy—in the best, most delicious way.

#1. Jeni’s (Chagrin Falls) – Jeni’s is the Beyoncé of ice cream—ultra creamy, unforgettable, and always hitting a high note. The sampler scoops let you live your best life and try a bunch of wild, wonderful flavors without commitment. But good luck not falling in love…the lavender wildberry haunts my dreams.

BONUS: I finally tried Honey Hut and TBH it rocketed to the top of this list for me…especially the honey pecan. The stuff dreams are made of. 🤌
